To celebrate International Open Access Week, October 24-30, 2022, the four institutions of the Berlin University Alliance (BUA) are hosting a series of online talks and short workshops on Open Access and related topics.
Although Open Access publishing is widely accepted and practiced, there are still uncertainties and reservations among scholars. We are therefore using the international Open Access Week as an opportunity to offer further training, food for thought and a platform for discussion.
To this end, we have put together a diverse program. There will be tutorials and talks about the practical implementation of Open Access, such as funding opportunities or how make your closed-access publications available to the public. We also offer inspiring talks about current developments in the publishing world with regard to their behavior of collecting and marketing user data. In addition, early career scientists will explain why they are demanding Open Science should become part of the curricula at Berlin's universities. Other discussions will include the role of Open Access and Open Science in relation to climate justice.
The program for this year's Open Access Week is coordinated by the newly founded, non-commercial university publisher Berlin Universities Publishing (BerlinUP). We look forward to your participation!
